What Bulk Downloader for IG does
Bulk Downloader for IG lets you select Instagram grid posts and save their available photos, videos and carousel media as one ZIP on your computer. It has no separate Bulk Downloader for IG account, developer-operated backend, analytics, advertising or reporting service.
Data used to do the job
Bulk Downloader for IG reads the grid and your current selection. It handles post codes, media URLs, account names, dates, the selected media bytes and ZIP download information. To look up the posts you select, it uses the Instagram session already active in your browser, including Instagram's CSRF cookie and request authentication details. It does not ask for your Instagram password or export it. Selection clicks and progress are used for the current job, not collected as a general browsing or activity history.
Network recipients
Post lookups go to www.instagram.com using your existing Instagram session. Selected photos and videos are fetched from Instagram/Meta media hosts under cdninstagram.com and fbcdn.net; these media requests omit cookies. The relevant provider receives normal request information such as your IP address. No selected post, credential, ZIP or download history is uploaded to the developer. Instagram/Meta's own service policies apply to requests they receive. Bulk Downloader for IG does not bypass their access controls.
Browser storage and retention
The pinned Instagram engine keeps learned app/ASBD/claim request headers and GraphQL query templates in chrome.storage.local under smd.ig.session. A username-to-ID compatibility cache, when populated, uses smd.ig.users and is capped at 1,000 entries. Temporary API/page request tokens use smd.ig.tokens in chrome.storage.session and can be reused for up to six hours. These are extension-local compatibility caches, not a developer cloud database. Selection state, page caches, progress, working media bytes and ZIP blobs are held in memory. ZIP object URLs and their buffers are released when the job is saved, cancelled or its context closes.
Your control and deletion
Removing Bulk Downloader for IG clears its extension storage. Reloading the extension and Instagram tabs clears in-memory work. Instagram's cookies and Chrome's downloaded files are separate: uninstalling Bulk Downloader for IG does not remove those. Delete saved ZIP files, extracted media and download history yourself, and manage Instagram cookies through browser settings. There is no Bulk Downloader for IG server account or remote archive to delete.
Permissions
cookies reads Instagram's CSRF cookie. storage keeps the compatibility caches described above. webRequest observes Instagram request headers and query details for compatibility. offscreen assembles the archive in memory. downloads saves the ZIP and can show it in its folder. The manifest's host access covers www.instagram.com, *.cdninstagram.com and *.fbcdn.net. The toolbar may open Instagram when no matching tab is available. No general browsing history is collected.
Welcome, uninstall and this website
This Bulk Downloader for IG version has no welcome-page or uninstall-survey hook and sends no installation counts, removal events or survey answers to ExtensionTower. Opening this policy is a separate website request; ExtensionTower's hosting provider handles that request. It is not an upload of your Instagram activity. Any future change to extension data handling requires an updated policy and package.
Sharing and sale
Your information is not sold. Bulk Downloader for IG sends only the requests needed to Instagram/Meta as described above. It does not send data to a developer analytics, reporting or advertising provider. Use of information received through Chrome extension APIs follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy and its Limited Use requirements.
